"Matts philosophy towards autism is that it is not a disease or disorder, it is a difference that should be celebrated instead of treated. That being said, if there are some symptoms associated with autism that the patient finds troublesome he is happy to work on a med management plan that targets those specific symptoms with the best outcome and the least side effects. Matt also often fill out forms for school or work for accommodations for my patients. He's happy to do this for his patients and charge no additional fees for this service."
Shannon is a dual board-certified family and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over 12 years of experience working in emergency departments, Shannon is uniquely suited to treat psychiatric concerns while considering contributing medical issues. She believes that while medications may be needed to help with psychiatric conditions due to neurochemical imbalances, it is important to take a holistic approach and integrate as many non-pharmacological interventions into the management of care as well to achieve optimal results.
Shannon treats a wide array of conditions such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, ADHD, OCD, etc. She has a special interest in women’s, perinatal, and postpartum mental health. She also has a unique perspective and understanding of those who have issues stemming from emergency work and its related trauma.
Her goal is to collaboratively work towards the client’s goals for treatment and symptom management by offering evidence-based suggestions with empathy and understanding. This may look different for each patient as psychiatric care is not one size fits all.
